Helping a dutch online retailer adapt to a new platform and increase speed of innovation

What they asked

Our client is the largest online retailer in the Netherlands and Belgium. Over time, their business model had transitioned from online retailer to retail tech platform. They came to M3 for help transforming their top structure to optimally serve this new platform model while increasing their speed of innovation.

What we did

We worked with our client for three months to achieve these goals. We designed a new structure for their board and ‘board minus 1’ levels. We then defined accountabilities, responsibilities and main metrics for each department. This was followed by integrating their new and innovative way-of-working (Agile at Scale) into the organization with clear responsibilities for innovation alignment and prioritization. Finally, we transformed their financial P&L – it now provides a clear performance overview for their platform as well as their own retail and individual propositions.

What we accomplished

Our client now has a new operating model focused on delivering their platform’s ambitions in a scalable way while preserving the success of their previous retail-focused setup. Despite ambitious timelines and a complex stakeholder landscape, we delivered the project on time.
